Summary #1

Summary for the week of Oct 24-28, 2011
We did a new activity this week. The 'Grid' activity seems to be my favorite thus far. Our group was able to get through all 5 grids and start on the flash cards as well. I've noticed that my free signing skill are getting better. We do them every class. We also did copy signing. This was actually an interesting exercise. On Tuesday we copy signed a song and that was great fun. It really helped me on the use of signing space and facial expressions. If anything it made me smile. On Thursday we did another copy signing exercise, but this time we were following Professor Carl. I had a little more difficulty with this as we practiced signer's perspective. Having Professor Carl in the room watching us copy sign from his video made me a little more anxious. Overall it was a good experience. I would really like to see us go over some signs, even though I know seeing signs is different than conversation, because of concept. Maybe we could accomplish this with the flashcard activity. I hope so. Regardless, I think the key is to Practice! Practice! Practice!
I can also say that I am retaining more of the signs that Professor Carl is signing to us. I am feeling very good about things in class up to this time. I am starting to see an improvement in my skills. Have a great weekend!
